The summer of 2008 proved to be another successful one for Conference Services. Many events were hosted on campus including:
- Revenue and Customs National Sports Day - was attended by over 700 competitors and supporters using the University’s athletics stadium and pitches plus the Wales National Pool, all located just a short stroll from the campus.

Everyone enjoyed excellent accommodation and catering to compliment the fantastic sports facilities on offer at the campus, giving good value for money and a beach thrown in for free! - British Association for Applied Linguistics – used our Event Experts service for a lively conference
"The success of the BAAL 2008 conference was almost entirely due to the dedication and professionalism of Conference Services staff. They coordinated services such as web design, catering, technical support, accommodation and facility provision, and communicated efficiently and frequently with the academic conference organisers in order to apprise them of arrangements. Conference Services handled registration and sponsorship and dealt with delegate and exhibitor enquiries in a timely and patient fashion. Conference staff were present throughout the conference itself (for early morning starts and weekend sessions too), and delegates commented on the friendly and helpful way they answered queries and generally facilitated the event. Using Conference Services for BAAL 2008 meant that I, as academic conference organiser, could focus my attention on the programme and its contents, confident that all other arrangements were being efficiently dealt with elsewhere."

- New Chaucer Society XVIth International Congress – also used Event Experts for this large academic conference held over 5 days that made the most of the great location by organising many well received trips.
“Conference Services were tremendously helpful with all aspects of planning the conference, including room bookings, budgeting and catering. During the event, they were on deck far more than I had expected, running the registration desk, overseeing meal times, advising delegates and generally being very visible and helpful. We had a large number of delegates, about 340, mainly from the US, and the whole five days ran like clockwork. In the feedback afterwards, many delegates commented on how welcoming and enjoyable Swansea had been, and I’m sure that was mainly due to the friendliness and hands-on efficiency of Nanele, Leah and their team.”

At very short notice the Graduation ceremonies were moved on campus alongside our full programme of July events. The marquee on the Green at the centre of the campus was very well received by all the Graduands and their families and showed off the versatility of Swansea’s attractive campus.
