The University's Recruitment and Selection procedures have been developed to support key objectives and core values identified within the University's strategic plan and within the Human Resources Strategy. The procedures are designed to assist with the University's aspiration to sustain and extend its research base so that in accordance with the Strategic Plan and the Vice-Chancellor's vision it will be classified as one of the top 30 Universities in the UK. In addition, the University's core values identifying equality of opportunity and service to the community are noted as being of particular importance.

With these objectives and values in mind, the University has carefully examined its Recruitment and Selection Procedures. The outcomes of these reviews together with developments through the HR Strategy and the Vice-Chancellor's vision for the University, the Equal Opportunities Policy Action Plan and the Race Equality Policy and Action Plan have been worked into an extensive and comprehensive guidance document for all staff involved in the Recruitment/Selection Procedure within the University. The revised guidance will enable the more effective recruitment and selection of staff to Swansea University and assist the University to achieve its mission.
