The University's Mission is as follows:

Swansea University will provide an environment of research excellence, with research being undertaken that is internationally recognised and that informs all other activities at the University.  Swansea University will deliver an outstanding student experience, with teaching of the highest quality, that produces graduates equipped for distinguished personal and professional achievement.  The University community will be a powerhouse for growth in the regional economy, and will greatly enrich the community and cultural life of Wales.  It will contribute to the health, leisure and well-being of citizens in South West Wales and beyond.

It is essential that the University recruits and retains staff of the highest quality and motivates them to deliver its mission through robust recruitment processes and sound performance management in the context of an equal opportunities framework.

The Recruitment and Selection Procedures have been revised in line with the  developments through the HR Strategy and the Vice-Chancellor's vision for the University, the Equal Opportunities Policy Action Plan and have been worked into an extensive and comprehensive guidance document for all staff involved in the Recruitment and Selection Procedure within the University.  This guidance will enable the most effective recruitment and selection of staff to Swansea University and assist the University to achieve its mission.
