The newly established Centre for Environmental and Energy Law and Policy (CEELP) promotes excellence in research and teaching in environmental and energy law.
Affiliated to the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law (http://www.iucnael.org), CEELP will support the new taught LLM programme in Environmental & Energy Law to be established in the School of Law in 2008. Centre members welcome applications from potential research students. In addition, CEELP further seeks to foster links in its areas of expertise between academia and local and national governments, the community, industry and the professions.
CEELP is linked to the Energy Technium in Pembrokeshire, the latest addition to the Wales-wide Technium Programme (http://www.wda.co.uk/index.cfm/en4414), geared to promoting innovation and inward investment. Pembrokeshire, as an existing centre for petrochemical activity, and with its diversifying profile in emerging clean technologies and renewables, provides an ideal environment to promote vital development of secure and sustainable energy supply. CEELP provides advice on policy to stakeholders in the energy sector, including the Energy Group of the Welsh Assembly Government.
