Swansea University - About Us

Department of Research & Innovation

“The Department of Research and Innovation aims to provide support, advice and guidance for research, consultancy and business engagement activity.”

Our excellent track record means that we have the expertise and staff to help:

Support funding and research bids
Our highly skilled staff can support researchers; helping prepare funding applications from conception, through to the point of award. After awards are granted, continued support helps assist staff in managing their projects including amongst other things, monitoring progress, ensuring that all financial claims are submitted on schedule and providing up-to-date budget information.

Create value from your ideas
Our experts in Intellectual Property and commercialisation can support University staff and students by turning ideas into viable business plans – advising on patents, licensing technology and spin out companies.

Support spinout and enterprise
If you’re a current student or recent graduate thinking of starting up your own business or would like to in the future, we can help put you in touch with the right industries, people and resources. Funding opportunities are also available.

Set up collaborative projects
Our Knowledge Transfer Officer is on hand to support both businesses and academics with advice on collaborative projects and funding schemes, and also to provide a portal for interaction between the University, public and private sector.

Boost your business
We help bridge the gap between academia and business, by putting businesses in touch with experts from the University to help solve any problems or technological challenges, develop ideas and train staff.
