The University continues to invest heavily. In the last year, we have appointed nearly 100 new academic staff and a recent strategic review resulted in measures that will ensure Swansea's continued development: we have streamlined our management structure and consolidated several areas of academic activity to focus on our strengths.

The University is now centred on ten Schools, which provide true academic leadership and are responsible for many strategic and operational matters. The Schools also drive forward the University's research activities and the new structure has encouraged ambitious, but realistic, plans for growth.

The result is a more proactive and effective organisation that is better placed to meet the challenges of higher education in the 21st Century.
