The Students’ Union is an organisation that represents the needs
and opinions of the student body at Swansea University. They have
elected Student Officers that each have a defined role or group that
they represent on University decision-making committees, local and
national government, NUS and many others. The SU also run a number of

Advice Centre

The Advice Centre
offers free, confidential, impartial welfare advice to students on
virtually any subject to all students. Two permanent, professionally
qualified Welfare Advisors are available to advise, guide and talk you
through a whole range of issues.
The only criteria to enable you to access help is that you are a Swansea University Undergraduate/Postgraduate whether full or part time. You can make an appointment to see an adviser by contacting the centre’s secretary, Jen Preece, or by dropping-in to make an appointment.

Free Condoms
The Advice Centre also offers free condoms to students who call in during opening hours.
Pro-Choice Fund
Available to women facing
pregnancy during their studies, this fund specifically aims to help
with ante-natal costs, clinics, travel costs and more. For more
information contact the Womens’ Officer Tel: 01792 295770 .
Free Legal Advice
The Advice Centre also runs a
free legal surgery by a professional solicitors firm on Campus every
week. The surgery runs from 2pm to 3:30pm every Tuesday. Please contact
Jen Preece to make an appointment in advance.

Free Personal Safety Alarms
Available from the
Womens’ Officer, these handy little devices are free to students and
can either be carried in a handbag, on your key ring or used to secure
a window or a door.
Campus Police
There is a police officer based on
the campus, PC Peter Edwards, and there is also a new Police Community
Support Officer , Sian Dumbleton, who will be happy to advise you on
any aspect of crime prevention. You can also contact them if you have
been a victim of crime or need Police assistance in anyway.
Every year the Mobile Police Station visits campus during Freshers
and will have plenty of staff on hand to dish out all sorts of advice
on personal safety, crime prevention and free property marking.
