Part-time study & Adult Continuing Education
The programme for adult learning and part-time study delivers a wide and varied set of courses to the community as well as the student body. Managed by the Department of Adult Continuing Education (DACE), the programme provides new learning experiences and aims to widen participation in higher education.
The scheme is designed for people who, because of work, family or other commitments are not able to embark on full-time study. Students who chose the part-time degree option therefore have the opportunity to fit their studies around their other commitments. Prospective students have a number of options to choose from when selecting their courses. DACE students come from many different walks of life and during the last 15 years over 250 people have graduated from the programme, gaining a qualification that can aid their career and provide a sense of achievement and self-fulfilment.

At present the Department is primarily 'community-based', with over 90% of its provision taking place off-campus. DACE currently offers a wide range of courses in areas such as Information Technology, Welsh, the Performing Arts and Humanities. New courses in Community Development Studies and Higher Education Certificates in Counselling and Community Arts Practice have also come on stream and a part-time MA in Lifelong Learning commenced in October 2005. DACE leads the field in ICT supported learning through its Connecting Communities Cymru (CCC) and Community University of the Valleys (CUV) projects.
Each year, the Department supports over 6,000 students: visit the DACE website for further information or contact +44 (0) 1792 295786
